WKU Soccer Falls to No. 6 Arkansas in 8-0 Loss

WKU Soccer faced a tough challenge on Sunday afternoon in Fayetteville, falling 8-0 to No. 6-ranked Arkansas. The Razorbacks, who have been dominant this season, showcased their offensive power with four goals in each half, leaving WKU unable to keep pace.

Arkansas, now 4-0-1, entered the match leading NCAA Division I in total goals, assists, points, and shots on goal. They continued their strong performance by scoring four goals within the first 33 minutes of the match. WKU, now 2-2-0, managed three shots in the second half, with two on target, but could not break through Arkansas’ defense. The Razorbacks added another four goals in the second half at the 52nd, 55th, 61st, and 71st-minute marks. WKU was able to prevent further scoring in the final 19 minutes of the match.

  • Brooke Sleeva and Kayla Meyer each registered a shot on goal for WKU, with Meyer taking two shots total, one of which was blocked.
  • Goalkeeper Maddie Davis made seven saves during the match, just two short of her career-high for a single game.
  • Arkansas has been formidable at home, boasting a 33-1-2 record over the last four seasons, with their only loss coming in the NCAA Tournament. This season, the Razorbacks have outscored their opponents 31-3 and have won their last three matches by a combined score of 22-0.
