The Murray State Racers are packing their bags for paradise this Christmas, heading to the 15th Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu.
From December 22-25, the squad will hit the hardwood at SimpliFi Arena, joining a stacked eight-team field including Charlotte, College of Charleston, Hawaii, Loyola Chicago, Nebraska, and Oregon State.
This marks only the second time the Racers have said “Aloha” to Hawaii, with their last visit coming way back in 1998 under Hall of Fame coach Tevester Anderson. That trip saw Murray State go 1-2, including a loss to Charlotte.
The Diamond Head Classic has been a proving ground for powerhouses since 2009, with past champs including USC, Arizona, and Houston. Now, the Racers are looking to add their name to that trophy.
Fans itching for some holiday hoops in Hawaii can expect ticket sales to open in October. Keep an eye on hawaiianairlinesdiamondheadclassic.com for all the details.
For Racer Nation, it’s time to trade in those Christmas sweaters for Hawaiian shirts. Murray State’s ready to bring some bluegrass flair to the Big Island.
