Kentucky Women’s Basketball standout junior guard Cassidy Rowe has been a celebrated figure in the Bluegrass basketball world since her early teens.

Her journey with the Wildcats began with an official visit as a 6th grader, and her talent quickly made waves at Shelby Valley High School. Rowe earned the title of 6th Man of the Year in 7th grade, achieved All-State recognition as an 8th grader, and secured five Division I offers as a 14-year-old freshman.

Former Kentucky Head Coach Matthew Mitchell offered Rowe a scholarship during her freshman year, and she eagerly committed, making Kentucky the only school she had officially visited. Her decision reflected a lifelong dream of donning the Wildcats’ blue and white.

At the time of her commitment, Rowe was already navigating adversity, rehabbing an ACL tear in her right knee from her freshman season. Her determination carried her back to the court, but another setback came when she tore her left ACL during the summer before her sophomore season. Undeterred, Rowe faced another arduous recovery process with characteristic resilience.

Her junior year presented even more challenges. COVID-19 delayed the season, and Coach Mitchell, who had championed her talent, stepped down due to health concerns. Despite these hurdles, Rowe’s unwavering spirit and dedication solidified her reputation as a tenacious competitor.

Off the court, Rowe is equally accomplished. A Kinesiology major, she has earned accolades such as the 2023-24 CSC Academic All-District Team, a spot on the SEC Winter Academic Honor Roll, and the 2022-23 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.

Beyond basketball and academics, Rowe cherishes her 16-year-old dog, Max, highlighting her life as one of balance, perseverance, and unrelenting passion.
