Kentucky men’s basketball players Brennan Canada and Grant Darbyshire have been selected to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court for the 2023-24 season, as announced on Monday.
To earn this distinction, players must be a junior, senior, or graduate student in academic standing and have maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher for the 2023-24 season.
The NABC’s academic awards include honorees from all levels of college basketball, with more than 2,100 players earning spots on the NABC Honors Court this year.
Brennan Canada
- Academic Achievements:
- Honored by the NABC for the third consecutive year.
- Completed his undergraduate degree in 2022.
- Earned a Master of Science in Kinesiology and Health Promotion in May 2023.
- Four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll awardee.
- Inducted into the Frank G. Ham Society of Character in spring 2022, the highest honor bestowed on UK student-athletes.
- Community Involvement:
- Member of the 2024 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team.
- On the Court:
- Played his fifth and final season with the Wildcats in 2023-24.
- Appeared in 26 games for the Blue and White.
- Hails from Mount Sterling, Kentucky.
Grant Darbyshire
- Academic Achievements:
- Earned his place on the Honors Court in his first year of eligibility.
- Working toward a degree in business administration and finance.
- Two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection.
- On the Court:
- Made four appearances for Kentucky last season.
- Will return to UK in 2024-25 as part of head coach Mark Pope’s inaugural roster.
- Native of Cincinnati, Ohio.
