Kentucky State WBB Falls to Union, 114-66

The Kentucky State women’s basketball team suffered a 114-66 defeat against Union on Wednesday afternoon in Jackson, Tennessee.

Khalia Bryant led the Thorobreds with a stellar performance, scoring 20 points on 90% shooting from the field (9-of-10) and grabbing seven rebounds. Mondrea Williams controlled the glass with a team-high 11 rebounds, while Diana McBroom paced the offense with six assists.

Union’s offense was powered by Bethany Dillard, who drained eight of the Bulldogs’ 24 three-pointers to lead all scorers with 26 points. The Bulldogs took full advantage of Kentucky State’s turnovers, converting them into 49 points, and showcased their depth with a 67-16 bench scoring advantage.

The Thorobreds started strong, making their first three shots to grab an early lead, but Union closed the first quarter ahead, 26-21. A dominant second quarter extended Union’s lead to 56-32 at halftime, fueled by accurate shooting from beyond the arc.

Union widened the margin in the third quarter, outscoring Kentucky State 40-18. Although the Thorobreds kept the fourth quarter more competitive, being outscored 18-16, the Bulldogs cruised to a commanding victory.

Kentucky State will return to conference play on Monday, Dec. 16, in Atlanta, Georgia, as they face Clark Atlanta. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
