The 4th-ranked University of Louisville volleyball team extended their winning streak to five matches, defeating Boston College 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-8) on Sunday afternoon at home. The Cardinals served a season-high 10 aces and hit an impressive .371, marking their 10th Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sweep of the season. With the victory, UofL improves to 21-3 overall and 13-1 in ACC play.
Charitie Luper had a standout performance, serving a career-high three aces to go along with nine kills and three blocks. She hit .316 for the match. Middle blocker Reese Robins contributed seven kills and three blocks, while Hannah Sherman and Cara Cresse also played key roles in defense, combining for seven blocks. Libero Elena Scott served three aces, and defensive specialist Kamden Schrand added two aces to the mix.
Audrey Ross led the Eagles’ offense with 11 kills, while Julia Haggerty added five blocks, maintaining her NCAA lead in the category.
Set 1: Louisville 25, Boston College 21
Boston College started strong, leading 6-2, but Louisville quickly bounced back. The Cards took their first lead at 13-11 after a block from Sherman and Sofia Maldonado Diaz. The teams traded points before Louisville gained control, with key kills from Anna DeBeer and Robins. The set ended with a kill from Maldonado Diaz to secure a 25-21 win for Louisville.
Set 2: Louisville 25, Boston College 18
Louisville surged to a 6-1 lead, with contributions from DeBeer, Luper, and Sherman. After Boston College cut the lead to 17-15, the Cards responded with kills from Maldonado Diaz and Cresse and an ace from Scott. Louisville sealed the set 25-18, thanks to a kill from Robins and another by Luper.
Set 3: Louisville 25, Boston College 8
The third set was a dominant display by Louisville, who recorded seven aces and hit .471. After a tight start, Luper served three consecutive aces, and Maldonado Diaz added a kill to push Louisville’s lead to 9-3. Robins and Luper both added multiple kills as UofL finished the set with a 25-8 score, capped off by a block from Luper and Sherman.
With the win, Louisville remains at the top of the ACC standings, as they prepare for their next matchup against Georgia Tech.
