Four former Kentucky State men’s basketball players have made their mark on the international stage, showcasing their talents in professional leagues across Canada, Albania, and Montenegro.
Montrell Jacobs and Kong Kong are teammates once again, suiting up for the Windsor Express in the National Basketball League of Canada. The Express, two games into their 2024-25 season, will take on the London Lightning on Friday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. ET. Jacobs, who previously starred for KB Teuta Durres in Albania’s Superliga, made an immediate impact in his debut season overseas. Through eight games, he is averaging an impressive 18.4 points and 10.9 rebounds per game, highlighted by seven consecutive double-doubles.
Meanwhile, Brandon Hill is playing for KK Teodo Tivat in Montenegro. He has contributed five points and five rebounds early in his season. Reflecting on his experience, Hill shared, “Playing professional basketball overseas has been an amazing experience. Competing at the professional level was a childhood dream that most hoopers want to achieve. I have had the opportunity to travel to over ten countries within Europe, which has given me a better outlook on life and made me more appreciative of things we have stateside. As for basketball, it has been a grind, with practices and multiple games per week while traveling by plane or bus. But I am grateful for being able to have this experience.”
The accomplishments of these former Thorobreds illustrate the global reach of Kentucky State basketball and serve as an inspiration for current and future student-athletes aiming to achieve their dreams of playing at the professional level.
