The Kentucky State women’s basketball team stepped away from the court to give back to the Frankfort community, volunteering at the Access Soup Kitchen in downtown Frankfort.
A Day of Service
The players spent the day preparing and serving meals to those in need, taking the opportunity to connect with local residents as part of the team’s ongoing effort to foster compassion and responsibility beyond athletics.
Coach’s Perspective
Head coach Amani Williams highlighted the importance of community service for her players.
“I think it’s important to give back to the community because it fosters a sense of purpose,” Williams said. “I want the girls to understand that someone out there wishes they had what you have, and by giving back, you can improve their lives. It’s about understanding true gratitude.”
Commitment to Outreach
This event is part of Kentucky State’s broader commitment to community engagement, reinforcing the program’s values of service and leadership both on and off the court.
