Kentucky State Golf Finishes Fifth at Colonel Shootout

Kentucky State finished fifth out of twelve teams, competing against ten NCAA Division I opponents at the Colonel Shootout, hosted by Eastern Kentucky at the University Club at Arlington in Richmond, Kentucky.

Host Eastern Kentucky won the tournament with a 24-under-par three-round total of 828, while Vanderbilt’s Ben Loomis claimed the individual title with a seven-under-par 206.

The Thorobreds posted a 19-over-par 871, with rounds of 281, 292, and 298, finishing ahead of five Division I programs: Evansville, Detroit Mercy, Chicago State, Tennessee State, and Alabama A&M.

Robert Johnson led Kentucky State, finishing the tournament with a six-over-par total of 214. Johnson opened with a 69 in the first round, followed by a 75 and a strong final round of 70.

Maximiliano Dufey followed with a tournament total of 219, starting with a 68 in the first round, a 71 in the second, and an 80 in the final round. Both Micah Stangebye and Jean-Marc Chevrotiere posted identical scores of 223, while Cadyn Sava and Demar James rounded out the lineup with 232s.
