The Louisville men’s golf team opened their fall slate with a strong showing, locking in a fourth-place finish at the 2nd Swing Gopher Invitational on Monday. The Cards posted rounds of 290-281-292 to finish +8 at 863 as a squad. Texas A&M took the crown at 1-under, while South Carolina slid into second.
The headline for Louisville? Warren Thomis. Playing in just his fourth career tournament, the sophomore made a statement, earning his first career top-10 finish with a 1-under-par 212. He went 73-68-71 across the two days, good enough to tie for ninth overall.
Cooper Claycomb wasn’t far behind, tying for 15th after a 2-over 215 (71-70-74). Right on his heels was Brady Smith, who finished tied for 20th with a 4-over 217 (72-70-75).
Andrew Tan and Patrick Keeling rounded out the group, both tying for 45th at 8-over 221.
The Cards will look to build on the momentum when they tee it up again Sept. 15-16 at the Bearcat Invitational in Coldwater, Ohio.
