Kentucky Volleyball standout Brooklyn DeLeye has been named one of the four finalists for the 2024 Honda Sport Award for volleyball, as announced by the Collegiate Women’s Sports Awards (CWSA) on Monday. This prestigious honor highlights the top collegiate women athletes in NCAA-sanctioned sports, recognizing exceptional performance, leadership, academics, and community service

DeLeye’s stellar sophomore season solidified her position as one of the nation’s elite players. The Topeka, Kansas, native averaged a team-leading 4.87 kills per set, tallying over 500 kills on the year with an impressive .294 hitting percentage. Playing in all six rotations, DeLeye also contributed defensively, averaging 1.64 digs per set and serving 56 aces, which ranked as 0.51 aces per set. Altogether, she accounted for 609.5 points in Kentucky’s offense, demonstrating her versatility and dominance on the court.

DeLeye has already collected numerous accolades this season, including being named the AVCA South Region Player of the Year and the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year. She joins an elite group of finalists, including Pitt’s Olivia Babcock, Nebraska’s Lexi Rodriguez, and Wisconsin’s Sarah Franklin, all of whom represent the best in collegiate volleyball.

Should DeLeye win the Honda Sport Award, she would become only the second Kentucky Volleyball player to receive the honor, following Madison Lilley, who won during Kentucky’s 2020 national championship season. The Honda Sport Award has been a hallmark of excellence for the past 49 years, and its recipient will advance as a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious Honda Cup. The winner of the Honda Cup will be announced during a live broadcast on CBS Sports Network in June.

The winner of the Honda Sport Award for volleyball will be decided this week through voting by administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member institutions.

The CWSA, in partnership with Honda since 1986, has provided over $3.4 million in institutional grants to support women’s athletics programs at universities of award winners and nominees. This recognition underscores DeLeye’s remarkable contributions to Kentucky Volleyball and her embodiment of excellence both on and off the court.
