Kentucky State women’s volleyball aims to secure third place in the SIAC West Division as they host Central State this Saturday, October 19, at 2 p.m. inside Bell Gym.
Thorobreds Seek Home Court Advantage
After a stretch of road matches, the Thorobreds bring a 4-9 overall record and a 4-6 mark in SIAC play into Saturday’s game. Jaicee Corcoran leads Kentucky State with 94 kills this season, followed closely by Timaia Sugars with 92 kills. Amber Gregory has been a key playmaker, ranking second in the SIAC with 256 assists. In their last outing, the Thorobreds fell 3-0 to Benedict on October 12.
A Look at the Marauders
Central State holds an 8-15 overall record and is 4-9 in SIAC play, currently occupying third place in the SIAC West Division. In their most recent match, the Marauders swept Wilberforce 3-0. Zahra Coates led with six kills, while Naveah Brownlee dominated the service line with nine aces and added 10 assists. The Marauders’ defense was strong, holding Wilberforce to just five points in the first set and limiting their opponents to 30 total points in the remaining two sets.
