Kentucky men’s golf head coach Gator Todd has announced the addition of Peter Pougnet (pronounced poon-yay) to the coaching staff as an assistant coach for the 2024-25 season.

“We’re excited to have Peter join our program,” head coach Gator Todd said. “He has 12 years of experience as a head coach at the DII and DIII levels, and we know he is going to have a tremendous impact on our student-athletes.”

“It is an honor and privilege to join Coach Todd’s coaching staff here at the University of Kentucky,” Pougnet said. “I personally would like to thank Coach Todd for giving me this opportunity. I couldn’t be more excited to help him and Coach McDaniel continue to build this program going forward.”

Most recently, Pougnet spent two seasons as the head coach of both men’s and women’s golf at Regis University, a Division II institution in Denver, Colorado. There, he coached the 2024 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference individual champion and helped the women to the program’s second-best scoring average as a team in program history in 2023-24. In all, Pougnet coached three all-conference selections during his time with the Rangers.

Before his role at Regis, Pougnet was the head men’s golf coach at Division III Roosevelt University from 2014-2022. His team won 12 events during his tenure, including back-to-back Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference championships in 2020-21 and 2021-22. As a result, Pougnet was named the conference’s coach of the year for both championship-winning seasons. He coached eight all-conference honorees, including both the 2020-21 CCAC Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year.

Pougnet is a 2011 graduate of Grand Valley State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing. He went on to earn his Master of Business Administration from Roosevelt University in 2014.
