Kentucky Gymnastics Seniors Named Academic All-District Nominees

Bailey Bunn and Isabella Magnelli, senior athletes from Kentucky gymnastics, have been selected as nominees for the 2024 Academic All-District® Men’s and Women’s At-Large teams by College Sports Communicators. This prestigious recognition honors student-athletes who excel both in competition and in the classroom across various divisions including NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.

Bailey Bunn, hailing from Greenville, N.C., recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology after completing four seasons with the Wildcats. Overcoming a significant injury early in her sophomore year, Bunn displayed resilience throughout her collegiate career, achieving career highs in gymnastics during her senior season. She has been recognized for her academic achievements on the SEC Winter Sports Honor Roll and the WCGA All-America Scholar-Athlete Team, in addition to earning All-Freshman SEC honors in 2020.

Isabella Magnelli, a native of Suffern, N.Y., is preparing for her fifth year with the Wildcats in the upcoming 2024-25 season. She completed her bachelor’s degree in merchandising, apparel, and textiles in December 2023 and has begun pursuing a Master of Science in marketing. Known as “The Beam Queen,” Magnelli has been a standout performer on the beam, earning multiple WCGA All-America honors throughout her collegiate career. She has also been recognized for her academic excellence on the SEC Winter Sports Honor Roll and the WCGA All-America Scholar-Athlete Team.

Both Bunn and Magnelli have been considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot, highlighting their exceptional achievements in academics and athletics. Finalists for the CSC Academic All-America® will be announced on a national ballot, with the Women’s At-Large Academic All-America® First-, Second-, and Third-Team honorees set to be announced on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.
