WKU men’s basketball senior guard Don McHenry has earned a spot on the 2024-25 Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook Preseason All-Conference USA Team. McHenry was one of five players selected for the annual publication’s preseason all-conference honors.
McHenry, a native of Milwaukee, joined the Hilltoppers in the 2023-24 season and quickly made an impact, being named to the All-CUSA First-Team. He appeared in and started all 34 games for WKU, leading the team with 15.1 points per game while averaging 27.8 minutes per contest. His scoring ability placed him as the fourth-leading scorer in Conference USA. McHenry’s efforts helped lead the Hilltoppers to their first-ever CUSA Tournament Championship and their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2013.
In the 2023-24 season, McHenry was twice named CUSA Player of the Week and capped off the year with NABC D1 All-District First-Team honors. He shone in the CUSA tournament, earning MVP honors after a 25-point performance in the title game against UTEP, shooting 9-for-16 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line.
As a transfer from Indian Hills Community College, McHenry quickly became a key contributor, posting the third-best field goal percentage in the conference at 46.1% and the second-best free-throw percentage at 85.9%. He recorded double-digit points in 28 games, scoring 20 or more points in eight outings. His season-high 30 points came in a road game against Wright State on December 12.
In addition to leading the team in free-throw percentage, McHenry also led in assists with 81 and finished third on the team in steals with 32.
Looking ahead, WKU is projected to finish third in the CUSA Blue Ribbon forecast for the 2024-25 season, with McHenry expected to play a central role in the team’s success.
