WKU Volleyball Falls to Michigan State in Four Sets

Despite pushing Michigan State to four sets, WKU volleyball dropped its match against the Spartans (2-2) on Friday at the Breslin Center. Senior outside hitter Kaylee Cox and senior rightside Kenadee Coyle combined for 25 kills, with Cox earning her fourth match of the season with double-digit kills (12). Coyle recorded 13 kills, her highest this season, as the Hilltoppers moved to 3-2 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Set 1: 15-25
Sophomore middle hitter Izzy Van De Wiele led the Hilltoppers with a .600 hitting percentage in the first set, while Cox and sophomore outside hitter Gabby Weihe secured one block each.

Set 2: 17-25
Cox continued her offensive surge with five kills in the second set. WKU tallied 2.5 blocks, with assists from five different players. Van De Wiele and redshirt junior setter Callie Bauer also contributed a block.

Set 3: 25-23
Momentum shifted in the third set, with Coyle adding five more kills. Senior outside hitter Katie Howard and Weihe delivered two service aces each, combining for four total aces in the set.

Set 4: 23-25
Six different Hilltoppers recorded at least one kill in the fourth set, led by Coyle’s four kills. Weihe and Coyle also paired up for WKU’s only block in the set.

NOTABLES

  • Madyson Chitty led the team with 13 digs.
  • Gabby Weihe and Izzy Van De Wiele tied for the team lead with three blocks each.
