The 15th-ranked University of Louisville soccer team secured a 3-1 victory against in-city rival Bellarmine on Monday night at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium. Louisville (3-0-0) continued its winning streak with a first-half goal from Sander Roed, followed by second-half strikes from Jack Lewis and Ethan Subachan.

Goalkeeper Harvey Sellers maintained his perfect record, stopping two of the three shots on target for his third win of the season.

Louisville dominated possession throughout the opening half, outshooting Bellarmine 10-2. The Cardinals found the back of the net in the 23rd minute when Jack Lewis connected with Gage Guerra in the box, who then played it to Roed just outside the 18-yard line. Roed fired a right-footed shot into the goal, marking his second goal in as many matches. Despite their dominance, Louisville took only a 1-0 lead into halftime.

The second half mirrored the first, with Louisville controlling much of the play but struggling to extend their lead. Bellarmine (1-2-0) capitalized on a long throw from the right sideline in the 64th minute to level the match at 1-1.

However, the tie was short-lived. Less than two minutes later, Lewis restored the Cardinals’ lead with his first collegiate goal. TJ Kahoalii crossed the ball into the box, where Chase Vazquez laid it off to Lewis, who one-timed a left-footed shot inside the right post.

In the final moments of the match, Ethan Subachan sealed the victory. Leon Kondic dribbled in from the left side, drawing the keeper out before crossing to Subachan, who easily slotted the ball into the open net for Louisville’s third goal of the night.

Louisville outshot Bellarmine 20-7 and held a dominant 10-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Up next, Louisville will face its first conference opponent of the season on Friday night, taking on last season’s national runner-up, Notre Dame. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.
