Following an impressive undefeated run at the Elon Phoenix Classic, the Murray State volleyball team saw three players earn individual accolades for their performances. The Racers, who won nine of their last ten sets during the weekend, showcased their strength as outside hitter Ella Vogel, outside hitter Federica Nuccio, and setter Bailey DeMier were recognized for their contributions.

Vogel Named MVP
Ella Vogel, a junior from Cape Girardeau, Missouri, was named MVP of the tournament after a stellar weekend where she recorded double-digit kills in each match. Vogel’s offensive dominance increased her season kill total to 105, the second-highest in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC). She also made her presence known defensively with 12 total blocks, including a career-high six against N.C. Central on Friday, September 6.

Nuccio and DeMier Join All-Tournament Team
Federica Nuccio was named to the All-Tournament team after a breakout performance, particularly in the Racers’ final match against UNC Greensboro, where she tallied a season-high 19 kills. The junior from Frossasco, Italy, also contributed 27 digs throughout the tournament, solidifying her role as a key player on both offense and defense.

Bailey DeMier, a senior setter, also earned All-Tournament honors after continuing her steady form this season. DeMier posted season highs with 47 assists and 8.5 points in the match against N.C. Central, increasing her season total to 230 assists, which ranks third in the MVC. She also added nine digs in each match during the weekend, showing her versatility on the court.
