Kentucky State Football Looks to Extend Series Lead Over Alabama A&M

Kentucky State football aims to extend its 3-2 series lead over former SIAC rival Alabama A&M this Saturday at 6 p.m. (CT) in the Louis Crews Classic in Huntsville, Alabama.

The Thorobreds hold a 3-2 series lead against Alabama A&M, winning the first matchup in 1980 by forfeit. In their most recent meeting, Alabama A&M defeated Kentucky State 21-13 on Nov. 18, 2017.

About the Bulldogs
Alabama A&M opened its 2024 season with a tough 73-3 loss on the road to Auburn on Aug. 31. The Bulldogs have a 24-23-1 all-time record in home openers and have won six of their last seven since 2017. Head coach Connell Maynor will be seeking his 100th career win when the Bulldogs face Kentucky State.

Kentucky State looks to bounce back after a 69-7 defeat to No. 20 Virginia Union in their 2024 home opener. Defensively, Lawrence McConnell, Isaiah Clay, and Trevor Vines led the Thorobreds with five tackles each. Trevon Pope made an impact with a 53-yard interception return in the first quarter.

Quarterback Denim Johnson is expected to lead the Thorobreds’ offense, while McConnell, Clay, and Vines will continue to anchor the defense in their matchup against Alabama A&M.
