For the 18th consecutive year, WKU Volleyball has been honored with the AVCA Team Academic Award, recognizing the team’s dedication to academic excellence during the 2023-24 school year. The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced this commendation on Wednesday.

This marks the 21st time since 1999 that the Hilltoppers have earned the prestigious Team Academic Award. WKU’s remarkable 18-year streak is tied for the sixth-longest among all Division I programs, underscoring the team’s consistent commitment to their studies.

The AVCA Team Academic Award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, celebrates collegiate and high school volleyball teams that demonstrate outstanding academic performance. To qualify, teams must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.

This past season, a total of 229 Division I women’s teams received the award, with WKU’s 21 all-time recognitions tied for the 10th-most in Division I history.

This year, INTENT, a pioneering digital platform, is sponsoring the prestigious award. INTENT connects student-athletes and military special ops veterans with a robust network of employers seeking candidates. The tech, information, and internet company aims to guide student-athletes and service members toward success in their professional and personal lives after sports and service.

WKU Volleyball’s continued academic achievements highlight the program’s dedication to fostering a balanced environment where athletic and academic pursuits thrive equally.
