Kentucky Track & Field Programs Earn Eight USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

The University of Kentucky Track and Field programs earned a total of eight honors on the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s (USTFCCCA) annual all-academic awards listing, the organization announced Monday afternoon.

Team Honors

Kentucky Men’s and Women’s Programs:

  • Both programs were named All-Academic teams for their cumulative efforts in the classroom.
  • To qualify, competing athletes on the institution’s NCAA Squad List must hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Women’s Squad:
  • Holds a 3.3 cumulative GPA.
  • Has been named an All-Academic Women’s team in every season of the Lonnie Greene era.
  • Men’s Squad:
  • Boasts a 3.1 cumulative GPA.
  • Has been named an All-Academic Men’s team in every season of the Lonnie Greene era except 2019.

Individual Honors

All-Academic Athletes:

  • Six individuals from UK Track and Field were named All-Academic Athletes, including five recipients from the women’s team.
  • To qualify, athletes must:
  • Hold at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Have completed at least two semesters or three quarters at the nominating institution.
  • Have finished the 2024 indoor season ranked in the top 96 of a championship individual event or in the top 48 of a championship relay event.
  • Have participated in any round of the 2024 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

This recognition reflects the dedication and hard work of Kentucky’s student-athletes both on the track and in the classroom.

This is Johnson’s third All-Academic Athlete honor from the USTFCCCA and first as a Wildcat, previously earning the award in 2021 and 2023 while at South Carolina. 2024 marks the first All-Academic Athlete honor for Cain, Daniel, McAnnuff, Powers, and Scales.

Recognizing more than the 2023-24 academic year, USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams and Athletes are honored on the basis of cumulative GPA, taking into account the entire body of collegiate coursework completed by participating student-athletes, regardless of term or year.
