Kentucky State MBB Tips Off 2024-25 Season Against Tiffin

Kentucky State men’s basketball begins its 2024-25 season at home with a matchup against Tiffin University (0-2, 0-0 G-MAC) on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. in the Exum Center.

Returning Thorobreds

The Thorobreds welcome back ten players, including six seniors: Jaylen Daughtery, Lavar Miller Jr., Tyson Brooks, Justin Edmondson, Nick Cross, and Ogien Ayo. Junior returners Tayzhean Archuleta, Aziel Blackwell, and Morgan Brewer, along with sophomore Cordell Livingston, also bring experience and leadership to the lineup.

Four new transfers are set to debut in the season opener, adding fresh talent to the roster. Guard Deavion Scales arrives from Erskine College, guard Keon Henderson from Schoolcraft College, forward Gregory Melvin from East Los Angeles College, and forward Chase Dumas from Huntingdon College.

Scouting Tiffin

The Dragons enter the game with an 0-2 record, most recently falling to Lewis University 73-64. Dekyre Fuller stood out with 25 points and six assists in that matchup. Tiffin is led by first-year head coach Desmond Balentine, who aims to secure the Dragons’ first win of the season.

The Series History

Since the teams first met in 2017, Tiffin has maintained a 4-0 series lead over Kentucky State. In their last meeting on Nov. 16, 2023, Tiffin claimed a 74-64 victory. The Thorobreds look to turn the tables in this season opener at home.
