Kentucky State football looks to extend its success in SIAC play as they travel to face Tuskegee on Saturday, October 19, at 1 p.m. CT in Tuskegee, Alabama.

Since 2000, the Golden Tigers hold an 11-2 lead in the series. In their last meeting on September 9, 2023, Tuskegee defeated the Thorobreds 36-10 in Frankfort.
A Glance at the Golden Tigers
Tuskegee enters Saturday’s game riding a three-game win streak, all against SIAC opponents. The streak began with a 27-13 victory at Edward Waters on September 29, followed by a 42-0 shutout against Morehouse, and most recently a 27-17 road win over Lane on October 12.
Running back Johnny Morris leads Tuskegee with 280 rushing yards this season, while Chase Sellers contributed 59 rushing yards and a touchdown against Lane. Quarterback Raequan Bell passed for 179 yards in that same game and leads the team with 753 passing yards this season. Defensively, the Golden Tigers rely on Kaquan Kimbers, who has recorded 43 tackles.

The SIAC recently named Kentucky State’s Lawrence McConnell as Defensive Player of the Week for his standout effort in the Thorobreds’ 23-21 win over Benedict. This accolade comes amid a mid-season surge for the Thorobreds, which began with an electrifying 24-20 Homecoming win against Lane on October 5, followed by their close 23-21 victory over Benedict on October 12.
Quarterback Denim Johnson has been a dual threat, leading the team in rushing with 241 yards while also throwing for 749 yards this season. Johnson’s passing attack is bolstered by receivers Kale Anderson, who has 259 receiving yards, and Roscoe Parish Jr., who has 221 yards. McConnell, honored for his defensive prowess, leads the Thorobreds with 36 tackles.
