EKU’s Maddy Murphy has been honored as the Atlantic Sun Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week following her standout performance in a 3-1 victory at Northern Kentucky. This accolade, announced Monday afternoon, marks the first time an EKU women’s soccer player has received this recognition since the program joined the ASUN Conference four years ago. The last EKU player to win a conference offensive player of the week award was in the 2018 season.

Murphy’s Stellar Performance
Murphy played a crucial role in EKU’s successful week, helping the team achieve a 2-0 record with victories over Northern Kentucky and Youngstown State. The Terrace Park, Ohio native scored both goals in EKU’s 3-1 win against NKU, with her goals coming in the 54th and 88th minutes. Her efforts also included four shots across the week. Murphy’s brace is only the 19th time in EKU program history that a player has scored twice in a game.

EKU’s Recent Form
The win over NKU was part of a strong stretch for EKU, which has now won three of its last four matches and accumulated 10 points during this period.

Next Up for EKU
EKU (3-3-1) will look to build on its recent success when it travels to Nashville to face Vanderbilt on Thursday. The match will be streamed live on SEC Network+.
