Incoming Kentucky Rifle Freshmen Shine at CMP National Championships

Several incoming freshmen set to join the University of Kentucky rifle program this fall delivered standout performances at the 2024 Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) National Championships. Sam Adkins and Liz Probst, who signed with Kentucky in November 2023, along with walk-on Hannah Todd, all showcased their skills in the prestigious event.

2024 CMP National Three-Position Air Rifle Championship Highlights:

  • Competition Format: The event is a two-day competition where participants shoot air rifles in three positions: kneeling, prone, and standing. A total of 244 competitors participated.
  • Top Performers:
  • Liz Probst: Finished fourth overall in qualifying with an aggregate score of 1192 and 98x’s.
  • Sam Adkins: Finished fifth overall in qualifying, also with an aggregate score of 1192 but with 97x’s.
  • Hannah Todd: Finished 55th in qualifying.
  • Final Results:
  • Adkins: Won the final with a score of 466.5.
  • Probst: Placed sixth in the final with a score of 422.7.

Team Success:

  • Probst: Led her club team, Texas Hill Country Shooters 2, to finish first overall in the team rankings.
  • Adkins: Contributed to his club team, Palmyra Junior Rifle Team Gold 1, securing fifth place in the team rankings.

The impressive performances of these incoming freshmen bode well for the University of Kentucky rifle program as they prepare to join the team this fall.
