On Wednesday, Kaelyn Carroll, a five-star wing in the 2025 class, announced her commitment to Kentucky, choosing the Wildcats over other top programs, including Villanova, Minnesota, Florida State, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech. Carroll shared her decision-making process with KSR, highlighting the strong bond she developed with Kentucky head coach Kenny Brooks.

Building a Connection with Brooks

Carroll emphasized that her relationship with Brooks was the key factor in her decision. Their connection began during his tenure at Virginia Tech and strengthened after he transitioned to Kentucky.

“I started building my relationship with Coach Brooks and the coaching staff while at Virginia Tech, and when he moved to Kentucky and re-offered me, there was no question I wanted to take an official [visit] and learn more about UK,” Carroll said.

A Memorable Visit to Kentucky

Carroll described her visit to Kentucky as pivotal in solidifying her commitment:

• She praised the campus atmosphere and the supportive environment.

• The chemistry among the players stood out as a unique and appealing aspect.

“My visit was awesome, the campus was great, and meeting the players and the chemistry they had already started to build so quickly; I really felt it was something special I wanted to be a part of,” she added.

Carroll’s decision marks another significant recruiting win for Brooks, further bolstering Kentucky’s already impressive recruiting efforts.
