Kentucky State women’s volleyball moved up to second place in the SIAC West Division with a 3-0 sweep over the Central State Marauders on Saturday afternoon in Bell Gym.

Senior Amber Gregory led the way with 13 assists and four aces, while junior Jaicee Corcoran anchored the defense with a match-high 12 digs.

In the opening set, Gregory’s service ace midway through gave the Thorobreds a 14-6 advantage. Despite a back-and-forth exchange of points, a pair of kills by Leah Tubbs and Camri Goodwin secured a 25-19 set win for Kentucky State.

Corcoran got the second set started with a kill assisted by Gregory, followed by two more kills from Goodwin that contributed to an early 6-1 lead. The Marauders battled back late, closing the gap to 18-17 after a Kentucky State service error. However, back-to-back kills by Kyeana Biggs and another from Goodwin clinched a 25-20 set win for the Thorobreds.

Kentucky State maintained their momentum into the third set, opening with a run of six points that included two service aces from Gregory and kills from Randi Neal, Corcoran, and Goodwin. They finished with a decisive 25-12 set win, completing the 3-0 match sweep.
