Kentucky MBB Brennan Canada and Grant Darbyshire Named to NABC Honors Court

Kentucky men’s basketball players Brennan Canada and Grant Darbyshire have been selected to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court for the 2023-24 season, as announced on Monday.

To earn this distinction, players must be a junior, senior, or graduate student in academic standing and have maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher for the 2023-24 season.

The NABC’s academic awards include honorees from all levels of college basketball, with more than 2,100 players earning spots on the NABC Honors Court this year.

Brennan Canada

  • Academic Achievements:
  • Honored by the NABC for the third consecutive year.
  • Completed his undergraduate degree in 2022.
  • Earned a Master of Science in Kinesiology and Health Promotion in May 2023.
  • Four-time SEC Academic Honor Roll awardee.
  • Inducted into the Frank G. Ham Society of Character in spring 2022, the highest honor bestowed on UK student-athletes.
  • Community Involvement:
  • Member of the 2024 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team.
  • On the Court:
  • Played his fifth and final season with the Wildcats in 2023-24.
  • Appeared in 26 games for the Blue and White.
  • Hails from Mount Sterling, Kentucky.

Grant Darbyshire

  • Academic Achievements:
  • Earned his place on the Honors Court in his first year of eligibility.
  • Working toward a degree in business administration and finance.
  • Two-time SEC Academic Honor Roll selection.
  • On the Court:
  • Made four appearances for Kentucky last season.
  • Will return to UK in 2024-25 as part of head coach Mark Pope’s inaugural roster.
  • Native of Cincinnati, Ohio.
