The Kentucky State Women’s Volleyball team is set to kick off their 2024 season in Wilmore, KY, on Wednesday, September 4th, at 6:00 p.m. against the Asbury Eagles.

About the Eagles:

The Asbury Eagles opened their season this past weekend at the Earlham Invitational, where they posted a 2-1 record. The Eagles secured a 3-0 sweep against The College of Wooster, a 3-1 win over Earlham College, and suffered a 1-3 loss to Trine University. Leading the charge for the Eagles is outside hitter Isabelle VandeSchraaf, who has accumulated 46 kills and 41 digs, making her a key player to watch.

From the Stable:

Kentucky State’s Head Coach Keith Jones enters his first season at the helm of both the men’s and women’s volleyball programs. Since his arrival, Coach Jones has bolstered the roster by adding graduate transfers Camri Goodwin and Randi Neal from John C. Smith. Goodwin had a standout performance in 2023, recording a season-high 25 kills against Claflin, while Neal posted a season-high of 9 kills in the same match.

Returning to the lineup for the Thorobreds is middle blocker Leah Tubbs, who led the team last season with 22 solo blocks and 50 block assists. Timaia Sugars, who topped the team with 223 kills and 242.5 points, was named to the SIAC Pre-Season Second Team. Kentucky native Justice Mudd also returns to the lineup after a 2023 season in which she recorded 151 digs.

Kentucky State will be looking to start their season strong under new leadership and with the support of returning and new talent as they face off against the Asbury Eagles.
