Kentucky WSOC Set to Host Morehead State Sunday

The Kentucky women’s soccer team (1-0-0) is looking to continue its strong start to the 2024 season as they prepare to host in-state rival Morehead State (0-0-1) at “The Bell” on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. The Wildcats began their campaign with a solid 2-0 victory over Central Michigan on Thursday evening.

Season Opener Highlights:

  • Freshman Impact: Kentucky’s win was powered by four standout freshmen making their collegiate debuts. Sydni Fink and Alexis Tylenda each scored their first collegiate goals, while Ashley Mekitarian and Anna Sikorski contributed with their first collegiate assists.
  • Coaching Milestone: The victory marked the third consecutive season-opening win for Head Coach Troy Fabiano since he took over the program in 2022.

Morehead State Preview:

  • Season Opener Recap: Morehead State enters Sunday’s match following a 1-1 draw against Marshall in their season opener. The Eagles conceded an early goal in the 10th minute but responded with an equalizer in the 40th minute. Despite a goalless second half, the Eagles outshot Marshall 9-8 overall.
