WKU Women’s Tennis has been named an ITA All-Academic Team, and seven Lady Toppers were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Monday.

The seven ITA Scholar-Athlete Award recipients are Sofia Blanco, Paola Cortez, Sunskrithi Damera, Rachel Hermanova, Anna-Marie Kopecka, Samantha Martinez, and Mariana Zegada.

This marks the fifth consecutive season that the Lady Toppers have achieved ITA All-Academic Team status. WKU Women’s Tennis posted a 3.74 GPA over the 2023-24 academic year, with an impressive 3.82 GPA during the spring semester.

“To win this award again speaks loudly for the kind of culture we have built with the program,” said WKU Women’s Tennis Head Coach Greg Davis. “We stress being successful on the court and in the classroom, and our results have shown high achievement in both of those categories, as well as our high APR and record fundraising on a yearly basis.”

To qualify for ITA All-Academic Team status, a team must have a GPA of 3.2 or higher for the 2023-24 academic year. Student-athletes are eligible for individual honors if they have a GPA of 3.5 or above for the same period.

The Lady Toppers are coming off a 14-11 season in 2024, which tied for the fourth-most wins in a single season in program history. WKU is in its winningest three-year stretch in program history, with 47 wins during that period.
