WKU Baseball and Softball will hold the third annual “Bat Out Breast Cancer” event on Thursday, October 17, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. CT at Nick Denes Field, sponsored by Graves Gilbert Clinic. The event aims to unite student-athletes, students, and the southcentral Kentucky community in raising awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection.
Open to all ages, participants can join the event for $5, allowing them five hits or eight attempts at a soft toss pitch. All participants must sign a waiver to bat, and helmets will be provided. Children are encouraged to bring their own helmets or bats.
“Proceeds from this year’s event will support innovative solutions to provide the best care for our breast cancer patients,” said Brandon Falknor, Chief Administrative Officer at Graves Gilbert Clinic. “We are committed to enhancing the comfort and quality of life for those undergoing treatments.”
In addition to cash donations on the day of the event, supporters can contribute via Venmo or online. Those unable to attend can still participate through the online donation link, which is already open.
The third-base party deck will offer hot dogs, drinks, and alcoholic beverages for purchase, and spectators are encouraged to attend to support the cause.
