The Kentucky State University men’s cross country team earned a 10th-place finish at the 2024 SIAC Men’s Cross Country Championship on Wednesday, October 23, in Macon, Georgia.
The Thorobreds posted a total team score of 249, led by Justin Smith, who placed 37th overall with a time of 31:43.05. Joshua Merriweather followed in 45th place, crossing the line at 32:47.17. Nigel Cochran secured 50th place with a time of 33:12.97, while Gedeon Kaponga and Demarreon Green completed the team’s scoring effort, finishing 56th (33:49.11) and 61st (34:14.63), respectively.
Morehouse College claimed the team title with 38 points, followed by Central State (88 points) and Tuskegee (90 points).
Kentucky State will aim to build on this performance as they prepare for the upcoming indoor track season.
