Cathryn Brown, a sophomore from Eddyville, Kentucky, delivered a standout performance at the Mason Rudolph Championship, capped by a career-low 6-under-par 66 in the final round on Sunday. Her remarkable score tied for the fourth-best, 18-hole mark in program history.

Brown’s weekend total of 8-under-par 208 set a new career best and earned her an 11th place finish in one of the toughest fields she will face this season. Her 13 birdies over 54 holes were the sixth most in the elite competition. In the final round, Brown recorded seven birdies and just one bogey on the par-4 No. 1, a hole she had parred in previous rounds.

Her stellar performance helped the Wildcats go 4-under in the final round and post a 2-under-par 862 for the tournament, their best total at the event since 2021. Both the final-round score and the overall tournament total are season bests for the team, which has now played two tournaments and six rounds in the 2024-25 season.

The Wildcats finished 12th in a strong field that included seven teams ranked in the Women’s Golf Coaches Association Top 25.

Brooke Oberparleiter finished second for Kentucky, moving up a spot from the second round to post a 2-over-par 218 and tie for 42nd place. In the final round, she paired four bogeys with three birdies to finish 1-over-par on Sunday.

Freshman C.A. Carter from Lexington, Kentucky, impressed with solid rounds of 71 and 72 to start the tournament. Despite a challenging stretch with three consecutive bogeys in the final round, she finished with a 4-over-par 76 and a tournament total of 219, placing her tied for 49th in just her second collegiate event.

Two more freshmen, Elin Pudas Remler and Raleygh Simpson, contributed solid final rounds. Pudas Remler shot a 1-over-par 73 on Sunday, with birdies on Nos. 14, 16, and 4, finishing with a tournament total of 221 and a tie for 59th place. Simpson earned her season-best score with an even-par 72, notching four birdies and finishing 7-over-par 223 for a tie for 68th place.

No. 4 Texas claimed first place at the Mason Rudolph Championship with a 31-under-par total, while No. 4 South Carolina (-25) and Northwestern (-24) rounded out the top three.

The Wildcats will return to action at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational at Finley Golf Club in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, from Oct. 11-13.
