Kentucky women’s soccer (3-0-0) is set to host Jacksonville State (2-0-0) in a clash of the unbeatens at the Bell Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. The Wildcats, fresh off a 2-0 victory over Detroit Mercy (0-3-0) on Thursday evening, aim to extend their perfect start to the 2024 season.
Thursday’s win marked Kentucky’s third consecutive 2-0 result this season and made program history as the first time the Wildcats have opened a season with three straight shutouts.
Freshmen Alexis Tylenda and Michelle Moskau were pivotal in Thursday’s victory, with Tylenda netting her second career goal and Moskau scoring her first. Assists came from Grace Hoytink and Grace Phillpotts, as the Wildcats dominated the game with a 30-1 shot advantage, including seven on target, and a season-high 16 corner kicks.
Jacksonville State enters the match well-rested, having last played on Sunday, August 18, when they defeated North Alabama 5-0. The Gamecocks’ victory featured standout performances from midfielder Melissa Kuya Strobel and forward Naroa Domenech, who each scored twice, while midfielder Tori Paul added the fifth goal. Sunday’s game will mark the first-ever meeting between Kentucky and Jacksonville State.
