Murray State’s Trey Wall delivered a gritty performance in the second round of the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Urbana Regional at Atkins Golf Club, carding a 4-over-par 74 on Tuesday to climb two spots to 68th place, per a release from Murray State Athletics. Shaving four strokes off his opening-round 78, Wall’s two-day total of 152 (78-74) showcased his resilience on the demanding 7,533-yard, par-70 course. The junior’s round featured a birdie on the 559-yard par-5 sixth, nine pars, and no score worse than a bogey through 36 holes. Wall, the first Racer to compete at an NCAA Regional since Patrick Newcomb in 2013, tees off for the final round Wednesday at 9:50 a.m. CT alongside Titus Boswell (IU Indy) and Cade McLaughlin (NC State). Host Illinois leads the 13-team field at 558, followed by Oklahoma State (561), UNLV (561), Texas Tech (566), and Troy (567), while MVC champion Illinois State sits eighth at 578. UNLV’s Caden Fioroni tops the individual leaderboard at 135 (68-67), one shot ahead of Illinois’ Jackson Buchanan, who set the course record with a first-round 63. Wall’s steady play keeps him in the hunt as he aims to close strong in Urbana. photo courtesy Murray State Athletics.
