Cards Vault to Glory: Louisville’s Finest Fly High at USATF Indoors

The University of Louisville women’s track & field team is about to show out at the 2025 USATF Indoor Championships this weekend. Two current Cardinals and one alum are holdin’ it down, takin’ over the national stage like they own it. Ashley Callahan, Natalie Lark, and Gabriela Leon are straight reppin’ in the women’s pole vault, makin’ up damn near a quarter of the field. That event’s poppin’ off at 1:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, February 22—check the live results if you wanna keep tabs.

This whole USATF Indoor Championships vibe is goin’ down Saturday and Sunday, February 22-23, at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. It’s the spot where these athletes are tryna lock in a ticket to rep the U.S. at the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China, March 21-23. Big stakes, big moves!

Ashley Callahan’s bringin’ that new-new to the squad. She transferred in for her senior year after ballin’ out at San Diego State for three seasons. She’s been rockin’ unattached this indoor season, but this weekend, she’s finally suitin’ up in that Louisville uni for the first time. It’s her debut at the USATF national meet, and she’s comin’ in hot with a personal-best vault of 4.51m (14-9.5) from the Don Kirby Elite Invitational. Sis is ready to shine!

Then you got Natalie Lark, another senior, steppin’ up for her first nationals too. She’s been killin’ it this season—got herself tied for the ninth-best mark in the NCAA with a 4.47m (14-8) clearance at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational. That jump? Broke the Louisville program record, fam—she’s in the mix for the NCAA Indoor Championships next month, no doubt.

And don’t sleep on Gabriela Leon, the 2022 alum who’s back for round three at the USATF Indoor Championships. She’s out here pro now, reppin’ PUMA and trainin’ in Louisville. This queen won the outdoor NCAA pole vault title in ‘22 and hit a personal-best 4.70m (15-5) at last year’s USATF Indoors, snaggin’ third place. She’s bringin’ that vet energy to the crew.

Louisville’s out here flexin’—three badasses holdin’ it down in the pole vault, makin’ noise on the national scene.
