WKU Women’s Golf completed the first two rounds of their season-opening tournament, the Boilermaker Classic, with a strong showing. Lady Topper junior Sydney Hackett leads the way for WKU, currently sitting in fourth place as they head into the final round.
The Lady Toppers are positioned in fourth place overall, just two strokes behind second place.
How It Happened
The Lady Toppers began the tournament efficiently, led by Sydney Hackett, who finished the day with a 3-over 144 total score. WKU posted a 295 in their first round, with Hackett’s performance bolstered by two birdies and an eagle on her 14th hole. Nina McMurtrey also contributed significantly, sinking three consecutive birdies in her opening round to help WKU climb the leaderboard.
In her WKU debut, Julia Zigrossi bounced back in the second round, posting a 1-under 71, tying her career-best single-round score. Senior Catie Craig also made a remarkable recovery, shaving eight strokes off her first-round score to position herself securely in the top 20.
