The University of Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2024 was announced Tuesday, featuring six remarkable individuals: Jasmine Camacho-Quinn (track and field), John Cropp (administrator/coach), Henrik Larsen (rifle), Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (track and field), Jodie Meeks (men’s basketball), and Corey Peters (football). These inductees will be honored during Hall of Fame Weekend on September 20-21.
Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, Women’s Track and Field (2016-18)
Jasmine Camacho-Quinn is a two-time Olympic medalist in the 100-meter hurdles, capturing gold in Tokyo and a bronze finish in Paris. She made history as the first athlete from Puerto Rico to win two Olympic medals. During her collegiate career at Kentucky, Camacho-Quinn was a three-time NCAA Champion, winning twice in the 100-meter hurdles (2016, 2018) and once in the 4x100m relay (2017). A dominant force in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), she was a six-time SEC Champion and set four school records. Camacho-Quinn was also a 12-time first-team All-American and was named SEC Freshman of the Year in 2016.
John Cropp, Administration (1992-2013); Assistant Football Coach (1991)
John Cropp served the University of Kentucky athletics for 22 years, beginning as an assistant football coach in 1991. He held various roles within the athletics department, including athletics recruiting coordinator, assistant athletics director for special projects, and associate athletics director. Cropp was instrumental in the founding of UK softball in 1997, and the John Cropp Stadium was named in his honor upon his retirement in 2013. With a career spanning nearly half a century, Cropp is celebrated for his dedication to student-athletes. His contributions to the sport earned him a place in the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.
Henrik Larsen, Rifle (2018)
Henrik Larsen, a generational talent in rifle, led Kentucky to the 2018 NCAA National Championship as a freshman, where he also won the NCAA Air Rifle Individual National Championship. Larsen set school records in smallbore, air rifle, and aggregate during his collegiate career and was named the 2018 NCAA Shooter of the Year and NCAA Freshman of the Year. Representing Norway, Larsen competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and won the Smallbore Men’s Gold at the 2022 ISSF World Championships.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Women’s Track and Field (2018)
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is a four-time Olympic gold medalist, achieving two golds in both the Tokyo and Paris Games in the 400-meter hurdles and the 4×400-meter relay. She set world records in the 400 hurdles in both Olympiads, including a record-breaking 50.37 seconds in Paris. During her year at Kentucky, McLaughlin-Levrone won the NCAA championship in the 400 hurdles and set a collegiate record that still stands today. Her outstanding performance earned her three SEC championships and two gold medals at the 2022 World Championships. McLaughlin-Levrone was named the 2022 World Athletics Female Athlete of the Year.
Jodie Meeks, Men’s Basketball (2007-09)
Jodie Meeks, a standout for Kentucky men’s basketball, earned NCAA consensus second-team All-American honors in 2009. He holds the UK single-game scoring record with 54 points against Tennessee and set a school record with 10 three-pointers in that game. Meeks was named to the All-SEC first team in 2009 and made the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2007. He finished his Kentucky career ranked 33rd on the career scoring list with 1,246 points and tied for eighth in three-point field goals made (177). Meeks played 10 seasons in the NBA.
Corey Peters, Football (2006-09)
Corey Peters was an outstanding defensive tackle for Kentucky football, helping the Wildcats to four consecutive bowl appearances, including three bowl victories. In his senior season, Peters recorded 56 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and four quarterback sacks, earning All-SEC first-team honors. He was named UK’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player and won the Jerry Claiborne Award for academics and team attitude. Peters went on to play 13 years in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals, and Jacksonville Jaguars. He is currently a college football scout for the Jaguars.
The UK Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 2005 to honor individuals whose contributions and achievements have enriched and strengthened the University’s athletics program. A selection committee consisting of Hall of Famers, media members, campus representatives, and current coaches and administrators elects new inductees each year.
