University of Louisville defensive lineman Ashton Gillotte and offensive lineman Michael Gonzalez have been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Preseason Team, the league announced on Thursday.
Gillotte, a second-team All-American last season, is coming off a standout year in which he recorded 11.0 sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss. His performance included a career-high 3.0 sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss in a win over Boston College. Beyond his on-field achievements, Gillotte has been active in the community, participating in numerous charitable activities and donating money to local organizations. The West Palm Beach, Fla., native enters his final season ranked 10th on Louisville’s all-time sacks list.
Michael Gonzalez, a North Carolina native, anchored the offensive line as the starting left guard in all 14 games last season. He played a pivotal role in leading the Cardinals to their first appearance in the ACC title game. Under his protection, the Cardinals averaged 178.5 rushing yards per game and scored more than 30 points per game, culminating in a 10-4 record.
Both players are expected to be key contributors as Louisville looks to build on last season’s successes and compete for the ACC championship.
