The University of Louisville athletic department will see 12 current and former student-athletes represent their countries at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France. Athletes from UofL will compete in five different disciplines for ten different nations, with eight swimmers, and one athlete each in diving, track & field, men’s basketball, and men’s golf.
The opening ceremonies for the Olympics will take place on July 26 at 1:30 p.m. ET, and the closing ceremonies will be held on August 11. Over the course of the Games, there will be both live and tape-delayed television coverage on NBC and Peacock, while some events will air on the USA Network, Golf Channel, CNBC, and E!. Out of the 12 Cardinals set to compete in Paris, six participated in NCAA competition during the 2023-24 academic year, including:

- Else Praasterink (diving)
- Murilo Sartori (swimming)
- Ilia Sibirtsev (swimming)
- Jayden Ulrich (track & field)
Competition for Louisville athletes will officially begin on July 27 with the start of swimming, which will be contested through August 4. All eight Cardinal swimmers earned spots at the Olympic Games with Olympic A-cut times, continuing an impressive string of Olympic qualifiers for the swim program.
Carlik Jones, a 2021 graduate of UofL, will make his Olympic debut in men’s basketball for South Sudan when the team participates in their first group stage game against Puerto Rico on July 28.
Former men’s golfer Matthias Schmid, who left Louisville in 2020, will also make his first appearance at the Olympic Games on August 1 when the German begins the first of four rounds of stroke play.
Jayden Ulrich, the first United States Olympian in Louisville track & field program history, will compete in the preliminary round of the women’s discus throw on August 2, with the finals set for August 5.
Else Praasterink will round out the Louisville delegates in Paris in the women’s 10m platform diving competition. The preliminary and semifinal rounds are scheduled for August 5, with the final slated to be contested on August 6.
